This individual is responsible for the planning, execution and overall operation of a high quality recreational program that takes place at the Hough’s Neck Community Center on Sea Street in Quincy. The group leader will plan and implement a program for 1st -5th graders which will promote YMCA core values and create a sense of community pride.

The hours for this position are every Tuesday, 11:45AM to 2:15PM




Supervises program activities to meet the needs of the program members and fulfill YMCA objectives. The group leader is responsible for activities, behavior management and the day to day operations of the group.


Develop and facilitate appropriate recreation activities for 1st-5th grade youth. Communicate weekly program plans and supply needs to the program coordinator in a timely manner. Report any program concerns to supervisor.


Build positive relationships with program members to create a safe and supportive community environment within this program. Promote the YMCA in a positive manner to program participants and members of the community.

Minimum of 1 years’ experience working with youth.

CPR and First Aid must be completed within 60 days of employment and kept up to date.

The ability to develop positive, effective working relationships with, staff and program members are critical to this position.

Leadership skills, the ability to plan and implement a recreation program for 1st-5th grades.

Must possess excellent communication skills and demonstrate poise professionalism with staff, parents, and participants.


The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.  While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk and talk and hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit; reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, or crouch.
