Dear former AACA students, former colleagues and friends,
I hope you remember your time at AACA. Perhaps you were studying in the Next STEP program. Before 2011 it was known as “The ABE Program.” From 1993 on, Richard Goldberg may have been your teacher, or you worked together when he was program coordinator and later AACA’s Director of Education. After almost 24 years at AACA, Richard is moving a little closer to retirement on August 25. His longtime colleague, Shinobu Ando, will take over as Director of Next STEP, Richard will remain at AACA as Director of Education during a transitional period for the agency.
Richard will also help write a proposal for four more years of funding from the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE). For the years 2013 through 2016, Next STEP sent the greatest numbers of adults to college among DESE’s 82 community-based programs. At least 18 more of our students will start college in September. Next STEP’s teachers and advisors have worked hard over many years to help students have better lives and good jobs to support their families.
As a way to remember Richard’s many contributions to Next STEP and AACA, we are asking you to make a donation in ANY amount. Your contribution to the Richard Goldberg Next STEP Program Fund will help support the program in the coming years.
I would like to give money to the Richard Goldberg Next STEP Program Fund.
