PARTNERSHIP for AUTOMOTIVE CAREER EDUCATION (PACE)
The Partnership for Automotive Career Education (PACE) prepares students for entry-level automotive technician jobs. PACE is a collaboration involving AACA, the Urban League of Eastern Massachusetts, Sullivan Tire, Bridgestone Firestone, Village Automotive Group, Direct Tire and Auto, Madison Park Vocational High School and Benjamin Franklin Institute of Technology. Funding is provided by SkillWorks and the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.

 

Are you interested in working as a automotive mechanic ? Apply to PACE. Program is free of charge for low-income residents who qualify.

  • PACE is looking for committed students who will attend this program for one year and who are serious about an automotive career. Classes take place on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday evenings 6:00pm - 9:00pm each week plus every other Saturday 9:00am - 5:00pm.
  • Students receive technical training in autoshop safety, tire service, wheel balancing, maintenance service, electrical/electronic systems, brakes and suspension.
  • PACE also provides the support of a career coach, English, math and computer instruction as well as workplace communication skills (teamwork, customer service), interviewing skills and resume preparation.
  • Class cycles are 12 months, with job placement after six months into the program.
  • Class cycles start in August and January each year.

Requirements to be a student in this program:

  1. Commitment to one full year of training.
  2. Have a valid driver's license
  3. 7th grade level English & 6th grade level math.
  4. An interview with a selection committee, including an employer partner.
  5. Provide a copy of your income tax forms.
  6. Apply for public financial aid or an Individual Training Account.
  7. High School diploma or GED (or ability to obtain a GED).
  8. Must be eligible to work in the US.

Annual Capacity:
pre-employment - 40 students per year total
incumbents workers - 200 students per year total
