The Energy Efficiency Technician Apprenticeship Program (EETAP) is a new AACA program starting in July 2010. The apprenticeship program trains certified energy efficiency professionals. The Energy Efficiency Technician occupation combines the skills of an energy auditor and basic weatherization skills. The main component of the program is a one-year apprenticeship that combines 2,200 hours of on-the-job training with approximately 171 hours of classroom instruction. EETAP also includes a pre-apprenticeship math prep course for those that need extra math instruction.. The culmination of the program is taking the Building Performance Institute (BPI) Building Analyst Certification exam.
